About the Fitness 5

The objective of the Greater Bank Fitness 5 Fun Run & Fitness Walk is to promote healthy lifestyles in our community by providing an achievable distance for just about anyone to run or walk over regardless of their level of fitness. The 5km footrace and fitness walk takes in some of the region’s finest scenery passing along Cliff Road and returning along the seaside cycleway past North Beach, Belmore Basin, Wollongong Lighthouse and Wollongong City Beach.

The course is ‘AA Certified Accurate’ so you can rest assured the distance is spot on to the metre. The course is fast and free flowing meaning you are likely to achieve your best time possible if you put in the effort. Electronic timing chips are now used which enables more accurate timing and the faster processing of results on the day.

The Greater Bank Fitness 5 Fun Run has raised over $100,000 for local charities and community projects since its inception. Charities to have benefited have included Camp Quality, the Children’s Ward Appeal, Ebony House, Cram House, the Beaton Park Grandstand Fund, Wollongong Hospital Oncology Ward and the Beta-Imager Appeal. Proceeds from the 2019 Greater Bank Fitness 5 will be directed to the West Dapto Cross-Country Park Project Fund. Located within the Integral Energy Recreation Park at Brownsville this purpose built Cross-Country Running Park is for the benefit of the whole community with the primary users being children for school cross-country carnivals and fitness activities.

Kembla Joggers would like to thank all sponsors and supporters who continue to make this great event possible. Some of our sponsors will have some great deals available on the day and, of course, there will be the opportunity to win some great prizes including Rebel Sport vouchers and vouchers from a host of local businesses. By entering everyone goes in the draw to win and if you pre-enter you will have the opportunity to win some additional prizes!
